PREVIEW: Vocal Issues in Your Choir Arts Music by Twin Cities Arts Reader - August 17, 2016August 17, 2016 It’s mid-August and choir directors everywhere in Minnesota are getting ready to welcome back singers from their summer break. It is thus with great timeliness that the Twin Cities Chapter of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians is conducting a free workshop titled Vocal Issues in Your Choir tonight. Dr. Patricia Kent of the Colleges of St. John and St. Benedict will speak at Annunciation Catholic Church on topics including working with aging singers’ voices, managing volunteer singers, and more. Choirs are no small matter: an estimated 42.6 million Americans sing in them regularly. In places like Minnesota, with strongly established Nordic choir and congregational singing traditions, the proportions are often much higher than the national average of 1 in 8 Americans being choral singers. — Vocal Issues in Your Choir takes place tonight (Wednesday, August 17) at Annunciation Catholic Church (509 West 54th St, Minneapolis, MN 55419). The workshop starts at 6:30 PM; a freewill offering will be collected.
