As with Major League Baseball, so with Cantus: the award-winning vocal ensemble is back at work after following a strict period of quarantine. Unlike Major League Baseball, however, there haven’t been any quarantine jumpers to sow confusion and potential sickness in the ranks. And thus the eight men who make up the Minneapolis-based ensemble traveled safely down to Decorah, Iowa for what they’re calling Quarantine Camp Cantus. What does one do at Quarantine Camp Cantus? As with Cantus’ normal modus operandi, make beautiful music. Here’s the ensemble singing Ola Gjeilo’s arrangement of the Gregorian chant Ubi Caritas.
