NEWS: Presidential Inauguration News

Whatever your thoughts about the 47th President of the United States, the Presidential Inauguration on January 20, 2025 and related festivities brought out a who’s-who from American entertainers.

The ceremony opened with “O America!” performed by classical crossover and opera singer Christopher Macchio. The highest profile performer on the docket was the country music singer Carrie Underwood, who performed at the swearing-in ceremony itself, with an a cappella rendition of “America the Beautiful”. Country music singer Lee Greenwood – most famous for his 1984 song “God Bless the U.S.A.” – also performed, reinforcing the patriotic Americana theme of many of the selections. Choirs from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln also performed.

A returning staple performer was “The President’s Own” – the United States Marine Band, which was formed in 1798 to perform music for the President of the United States and the Commandant of the Marine Corps. The Marine Band is America’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization.

At the end of the ceremony, Christopher Macchio returned to sing the national anthem.

Various pre- and post-inaugural celebrations included performances by Kid Rock, The Village People, Billy Ray Cyrus and Greenwood, and Liberty University’s Praise Choir. Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, Parker McCollum, Gavin DeGraw, and Nelly also performed at assorted inaugural balls.
