PREVIEW: MacPhail’s Kids Fest Concert & Morning of Fun

Looking for a free, stimulating Saturday morning activity for younger kids? Consider popping down to the Water Works at Mill Ruins Park in Minneapolis on Saturday, June 7 for a series of family-friendly activities from the MacPhail Center for Music. 

What: Faculty musicians/teachers will play songs from Sing, Play, Learn, MacPhail’s award-winning early childhood music education program, which tailors learning opportunities to support specific developmental stages from six weeks to eight years old. “We welcome the opportunity to perform some great family-friendly music in a beautiful setting by the river,” said Paul Babcock, one of the performers and the CEO of MacPhail Music Center. “This is a great outing for kids and their families, and free to all.”

Who: The MacPhail Faculty Combo features Amanda Breininger on vocals, Terrell X on the mic beat boxing, Paul Babcock on percussion, Greg Keel on saxophone, Justin Hartke on bass, and Tommy Boynton on keyboard. They will be performing their favorite Sing, Play, Learn songs and other family-friendly tunes!

When: From 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, June 7, with concerts at 10:15 and 11:15 a.m.

Before, during, and after performances, kids can decorate a tube to “toot” along, explore instruments, and have a snack.
