The world-famous K-Pop group KARD is on a world tour, with The Fillmore in Minneapolis as one of 11 stops on its North American leg. The concert will be the evening of August 18 (doors open at 6:00 pm), and it is an all-ages show.

This musical foursome was formed by the entertainment company DSP Media in 2016. In a soundscape dominated by single-sex groups, KARD is one of very few K-Pop groups to feature both men and women, with members J.Seph (Kim Tae-hyung), BM (Los Angeles-born “Big” Matthew Kim), Jiwoo (Jeon Ji Woo), and Somin (Jeon So Min). The gender mix also shapes KARD’s distinctive style, mixing soft pop with hip hop (with J.Seph and BM doing most of the hip hop).

One of the occasions for this tour is the release of KARD’s fifth “mini-album”, Re, this past June. The album’s four songs include the hit “Ring the Alarm”

KARD generally excels at what fans have come to expect from the best K-Pop groups: catchy tunes, stylish clothes, good choreography and surprising hair colors. And they are adapt at varying their look, from standard K-Pop to punk to the neo-elegant look, as seen in a Singapore interview from a few years ago.

The Fillmore show will be a rare opportunity for Twin Cities music fans to see one of the biggest names in K-Pop, and promises to be a very entertaining evening.

KARD performs at The Fillmore in Minneapolis on Thursday, August 18 at 6 PM.
