BREAKING NEWS: Minneapolis Parks & Recreation Cancels Friday Activities Lifestyle by Twin Cities Arts Reader - July 16, 2026 Due to very unhealthy air quality, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board has canceled all outdoor programs, activities and events for today, July 16. This includes outdoor pools, wading pools, nature camps, recreation programs, athletic activities, golf courses, events and other scheduled outdoor programming. Parks, trails and beaches will remain open; beaches will be unguarded. Visitors are encouraged to use precaution and limit time outdoors and follow public health guidance, especially people who may be more sensitive to poor air quality. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board are monitoring conditions and will share additional updates if cancellations continue into tomorrow. Updates will be made to the MPRB website.
