Fringe File #7: 30-Second Reviews, Round 1 Arts Music Theatre by Twin Cities Arts Reader - August 6, 2016August 7, 2016 A scene from Game of Thrones: The Musical. Fringe is upon us! Here are some of our staff’s thoughts about shows that they saw in the first two days: Abreast of Burlesque Hello, late entry! Cute, flirtatious, and a little naughty…not that there’s anything wrong with that. Apple Picking Once you’ve gone to Apple Picking, you’ll never go back to apple picking…a rapid-fire hour of comedy laughs. Evil Twin Bring the kids – they’ll enjoy the absurdist theater even more than you will. Also brief enough that you can definitely sneak in a pint before your next show. Game of Thrones: The Musical Death stalks the Sesame Street stage, cut with some Avenue Q crack and parodies of a few musical standards. Spoiler-laden blast past from the past. You know you want to see your favorite characters get a few in before they meet terrible ends. Gilligan: A Tropical Musical A huge crowd favorite and a big contender for best-selling show playing at Mixed Blood. Sold-out performance on Friday. The score and choreography is “borrowed” without attribution from Hamilton, which the audience took as a wonderful idea for this screwball musical comedy. The Pound: A Musical for Dogs Woof! This feel-good and children-friendly musical definitely gets a bone and some dog biscuits. It’ll make you want to adopt a shelter dog.
