NEWS: Chanhassen Dinner Theatres to Bring Trouble, Pool to River City Arts Dance Music Theatre by Twin Cities Arts Reader - September 4, 2019September 4, 2019 There’s going to trouble in River City. (Well, technically, Chanhassen.) And pool. And singing in the library. “What’s that?” you say – is this a flash mob invasion? No, far from it – although there’ll certainly be singers and dancers showing up out of nowhere and prancing down the aisles. It’s all part of Meredith Willson’s The Music Man, the next mainstage show coming to Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. Sales of CDT’s Mamma Mia! are still booming out in the western suburbs, where that ABBA-themed show has been extended through February 22, 2020. After Mamma Mia! closes, however, that extension gives the company just five days of turnaround before previews for The Music Man begin. The fast-talking musical huckster Harold Hill (Michael Gruber) is currently scheduled to pull one over the town from February 28–September 5, 2020. Other cast and team highlights include Ann Michels as librarian Marian Paroo, Keith Rice as Mayor Shinn, and a creative team led by Michael Brindisi, Tamara Kangas Erickson, and Andy Kust. You can be sure that “(Ya Got) Trouble”, “Seventy-Six Trombones”, and more, “Till There Was You”.
